Valentines Day Thrift Fit Inspiration!

Valentines Day Red Skirt
Thrifted full red skirt/taken in at waist to fit :-) Vine80 Hair Bow

Hey friends! Where do I start...This has been a rough week for me.  Many obstacles have reared their ugly heads.  Leading me to question my quest in life.  I'm considering a big move and deep in thought about other decisions.  Be that as it may, today, I threw caution to the wind and say to myself, "Ya know what! Dust yourself off and get to doing what you love!" which I took to mean play dress up in my thrifts lol.  And this was the result!

How To Style Vintage Sequins

Sequins can be overwhelming as they command so much attention.  Allow your sequin piece to shine by pairing it with a complementary yet understated accent piece.

Dottie is this scalloped sequin top that I purchased from the thrift store some time ago.  It's a Sz Medium and I just assumed I could not fit it.  Recently I tried it on and after some finagling, managed to zip it up lol.  I love the classic polka dots paired with the scalloped hem and sequins.

Accessorize

Hey peoples! Since I purchased my Canon t3i this summer I have learned that photography is NOT EASY! I must say, I used to think it was...or well...I guess I never really thought in depth about it.  One thing about me is I love learning things on my own, I feel so empowered when I do! Learning so much about photography is a longggggggg process, but hey, at least I'm learning!  I said all that to say that I took these (unedited) shots and whilst I like the outcome I'm still trying to figure out how to tighten the frame without "littling" the image?, if that makes any sense lol.  These were shot in what appears to be the woods, but it is not. In fact it's my wilderness of a backyard lol (I was tiring of the brick wall).  I just wish I could figure out  damned manual mode using a remote shutter (that is daunting) but until then...This is what I wore today!

The fur collar I detached from a thrifted jacket and livened up this chambray dress.  The dress is from Old Navy and was oversized, so I used a thrifted brooch to cinch it some.  The suede boots are old from Nine West and the earrings and bracelet were thrifted as well.

Velvet, Fur and Net OH MY!

Hey peoples! This thrifted look is comprised of a velvet banded hat, velvet dress, fur stole and suede boots. The hat was about $3 and I purchased it because it reminded me of the lampshade hat Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's. I incorporated the hat into the look because I'd just had a chemical peel and my face needed protection from the sun, so I channeled a Samantha moment from a Sex and the City episode. Who remembers the episode I'm talking about?

I paired the hat with a thrifted velvet dress which I knotted at the side to give the ruched assymetrical look, which photographed well, dontcha think?

The Little Guide To Vintage Shopping

Have you ever read a book so good that you took so long reading it because you didn't want it to come to an end?  Well that is the experience I'm in now as I'm reading "The Little Guide To Vintage Shopping".

B.F.A.B. Awards

Hey everyone! I had such an awesome experience at the BFAB awards ceremony event. I was nominated in the "Fan Fave Blogger" category. I went in KNOWING I didn't win as I'd only been nominated a day before voting ended, so I wasn't nervous or anything lol.

It was such an awesome event and it flowed so seamlessly. Kudos to the Lady of the Hour Tiffini Gatlin of http://www.tastemakermag.com/for putting it all together!

Here are some pics from the event and my ootd, which everyone thought was a dress, but was actually all thrifted vintage pieces I found separately! Top, skirt, and belt were all thrifted.

Vintage OOTD

This is my fave thrift find in some time. It's a mint green vintage polyester jumpsuit and it couldn't fit more perfectly. I accessorized with a faux fur vest, and gold accessories, all thrifted. I wore this to a Holiday party I attended.

Print Mixing

Attending a stylish event, I'm wearing all thrifted pieces. I had fun with look, it's a little different from my usual style, as I don't wear skirts as often anymore, especially not flowy ones but I liked the "skater" structure to this one with the mixed prints.

Thrifts Of The Week

Wow, it's already been a week since my last Thrifts Of The Week post! As luck would have it I found another yellow gold lion piece to add to my collection. As well as a DOPE tailcoat (which has been on my mental watch list to attract) What did you find this past week?

The Unsuspecting Photographer

Those of you like me who frequent places and events alone, are familiar with the hunt for someone to take your picture for you. This can also occur when you want someone to capture you and a friend.

I'm curious as to the type of person you seek to ask. I usually go for the single black male. One, because he aint got shit else to do. Two, because I dare him to turn me down. I hate when I have to teach them Photography 101 and they still take a mediocre pic!

"Yes, I want a full length." "Yes, I want my shoes in the shot." "Scoot back" "Come closer." "Turn the phone longways" Grrrr!

Mind you no one has ever refused to take my picture for me but I'm always a bit anxious to ask them. I'm afraid to seem thirsty, narcissistic, and alone.

How do you feel when asking or asked about picture taking from a complete stranger?

Here's my most recent pic that I asked from a strange black make. He did ok, but I'd have loved for him to take a couple more. That's another requirement! At least take 2!
